Style
David Arky likes to take pictures of things not typically looked at and creating new interesting hard to replicate things for his pictures. One of his more interesting category of pictures is the XRay, in which he makes an x ray effect on everyday objects. His images are typically things we use in day to day life allowing us to relate to them.
Philosophy
Arky believes photography is a calling, in which the final image is designed to achieve an end. He is well known for his striking and innovative still lifes, conceptual and xray photography. He sees photography as a visual language, crafted in specific ways to solve specific challenges. He visualizes a solution, then applying ink to the paper how ever many times it takes for him to get the right solution.
Influences
I was fascinated about how he turns every day objects into xrays. I also like how he photographs phones and watches with a clear background which is easy to see. After replicating some of his work i can appreciate how hard it is to get a similar background and how i can take pictures from angles not typically looked at.
Compare and contrast
overlook and zenith
I think overlook was my worst image when comparing them. If i had to do it again i would get closer up and have the fine details. The background is a little bit messy but it is just the best i had.
blend and intensity
Fortunately for this one i had a very similar phone to the one he showcases in his wonderful picture, minus the intense colors. I used the grey background again as i think its kind of a nice blend of normally bland colors.
degraded pulsar and pulsar
I like how this one turned out. It has a similar overall aesthetic and my picture used an older watch which makes it look like its been out for a long time, which i think is pretty cool. This one was overall my favorite.
Artist Statement
It was pretty fun taking these pictures, at first i couldnt exactly decide on which to take as they all look really good and hard to replicate but in the end i decided on technology and watch pictures. The first picture i took represents how we can check our watches to see the time each day. The second one represents how we can talk to our families and friends while being far away while the third one represents when you first pick your watch up for the new day.
